Winter Wonderland Through January 2nd 5-11pm Holtwood Campground, 400 Holtwood Way, Oconto. It's time to take in all things twinkly! Each year the Oconto Holtwood Campground gets turned into a Winter Wonderland with over 150 trees decorated & sponsored by area businesses & organizations. The park is lite nightly from 5-11pm. Preschool Story Time January 3rd 10:30-11:15am Antigo Public Library, 617 Clermont St., Antigo. Join us for story time at the Antigo Public Library! This is a great way for kids who haven't started school yet to meet & socialize with peers. Every week we'll read 2 or 3 books together as well as doing some songs & movement. We also do a simple craft or coloring page that helps kids develop creativity & motor skills, & occasionally (attendance permitting) other activities such as parachute play. This event is geared towards preschoolers, but older or younger kids are welcome to attend as well.

Hodag Challenge Cross Country Ski Races January 6th & 7th 10:30am Sat. & 9:30am Sun. Cedrig A. Vig Outdoor Classroom (CAVOC), 4321 South Shore Drive, Rhinelander. The Northwoods Nordic Ski Club will be hosting the annual Hodag Challenge Cross Country Ski Race. Varsity, Junior Varsity & Middle School cross country skiers will race. Fifteen schools/teams and up to 250 racers are expected to compete in the 5 & 3 kilometer races. The classic ski races will start at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday & the pursuit style free style or skate races at 9:30 a.m. on Sunday. For younger skiers in grades 3 to 5, there will be a free 1K race after the other races are completed on Saturday. Registration for this youth race will be available on Saturday. Spectators for all the races are welcome and many areas of the course are spectator accessible.
18th Annual Polar Bear Plunge January 6th 1pm Bonnie’s Lakeside, 1426 Hwy. 32, Three Lakes. The Northwoods Original Polar Bear Plunge has grown and evolved since its beginning in 2000. Radio personalities at WRJO in Eagle River Mike Wolf and Amy Linnett, along with Eric Schoeneck and Dick Lemke host a 30-hour Pledge-a-Thon prior to the plunge on WRJO Radio. This “red-eye” event has raised awareness of our programs as well as an incredible amount in pledges.
Moose Tracks Snowshoe Race January 7th 11am Minocqua Winter Park, 7543 Squirrel Hill Rd., Minocqua. Snowshoers of all strides come to Minocqua Winter Park for an exhilarating event, the Moose Tracks Snowshoe Race with 5k and 10k distances. The race course winds through the trails and forests of Winter Park. Starting from the chalet, racers will complete one or two laps of a scenic and challenging 5km trail that includes sections of x-country trails, single-track snowshoe trails, and powder.
