Counting Wolves Film with Presentation by Director George Desort March 13th 6pm dinner, 7pm speaker. Treehaven, W2540 Pickerel Creek Rd., Tomahawk. Independent film director George Desort will present his film, Counting Wolves, which showcases the adventure, beauty & friendship of two scientists & a bush pilot in their pursuit of knowledge about wolves & moose on Isle Royale. In the documentary, wolf & moose researchers Rolf Peterson & John Vucetich depend on the skill of pilot Don Glaser who not only enables them to count wolves from the air, but also keeps the home fires burning & everyone entertained. Desort will share with attendees the latest updates on the island’s declining wolf population & the National Park Service’s plan for island’s future, as well as answer questions about his work as a film director. Attendees who book a night at Treehaven will be invited to have breakfast with George Desort in the morning. Cost for lodging is $50 for a double occupancy room or $90 for a private room. Overdose Prevention Training March 13th 6pm Forest County Courthouse, board room, 200 E. Madison St., Crandon. To respond to the increase in opioid overdoses locally & statewide, the Community Coalition of Forest County is partnering with the AIDS Resource Center of Wisconsin to provide free Overdose Prevention (Narcan) training to Forest County residents. The training will include information on local substance abuse resources, the importance of alerting emergency responders (calling 911) & hands-on experience with administering Narcan. Participants will receive a free Narcan (overdose reversal drug) kit that can be used to respond to an overdose. The training is recommended for anyone at risk of an opioid overdose, friend & family of someone at risk, healthcare, social services, law enforcement and emergency response providers.  Concerned community members are also encouraged to attend the free training.  The training will led by the staff of the AIDS Resource Center of Wisconsin. Preschool Story Time March 14th 10:30-11:15am Antigo Public Library, 617 Clermont St., Antigo. Join us for story time at the Antigo Public Library! This is a great way for kids who haven't started school yet to meet & socialize with peers. Every week we'll read 2 or 3 books together as well as doing some songs & movement. We also do a simple craft or coloring page that helps kids develop creativity & motor skills, & occasionally (attendance permitting) other activities such as parachute play.  This event is geared towards preschoolers, but older or younger kids are welcome to attend as well.

Developing a Community Solution: Langlade County’s Response to Illicit Drug Abuse March 19th 6pm Volm Theater, Antigo High School, 1900 10th Ave., Antigo. Langlade County has experienced an unprecedented increase in the abuse of methamphetamine in our community. This is not a unique situation; however, creating an effective solution to this problem is challenging. The time is now to come together as a community to be part of the solution! The evening will include a brief presentation of the nature of the problem, followed by an interactive discussion of the potential responses that Langlade County can undertake.
