Strong Bones is an ongoing strength training program designed to help adults become or stay fit, strong & healthy. Individuals will improve muscle strength, bone density, self-confidence, sleep and vitality. Also, participants have shown a decreased risk of diabetes, heart disease, arthritis, depression & obesity. Preschool Story Time April 18th 10:30-11:15am Antigo Public Library, 617 Clermont St., Antigo. Join us for story time at the Antigo Public Library! This is a great way for kids who haven't started school yet to meet & socialize with peers. Every week we'll read 2 or 3 books together as well as doing some songs & movement. We also do a simple craft or coloring page that helps kids develop creativity & motor skills, & occasionally (attendance permitting) other activities such as parachute play.  This event is geared towards preschoolers, but older or younger kids are welcome to attend as well.

Play & Learn April 18th 9:30-11am N4013 Hwy. 45, Antigo. Play & Learn is a weekly play group program for parents, caregivers & children from birth to age 5. Staff will provide a parent lesson, an activity for parents & children to do together.  The activity will build skills for school readiness & milestone achievement. Food Safety & Sanitation Certification April 18th & 25th 5:30-9:30pm Northcentral Technical College - Antigo Campus, 312 Forrest Ave., Antigo. This state approved course prepares you for the National Restaurant Association Certification examination from the Department of Health & Social Services by providing managers & employees in the food-service industry the knowledge of food-safety procedures. By taking this state approved course &d passing the certification examination, you will be eligible to apply for your Certified Food Manager License from the Department of Health & Social Services. ArtStart: Uncovering Surface & Silence (Thurs., Fri. & Sat.) through May 26th 11am-5pm ArtStart, 68 S. Stevens St., Rhinelander. Kristy Deetz’s drapery paintings on carved wood invoke and revise European canonical painting. A drapery may stand in for the body, free of specific gender connotations, while still creating a human presence. The often carved surfaces in the painting construction, along with the illusionistically painted drapery images, blend painting and sculpture, and object and illusion, allowing the referents to resonate on multiple levels. Go Greek Ladies’ Night Out April 19th 5-7pm social hour, 7pm dinner. Antigo Elks Club, 622 Clermont St., Antigo. Wabeno Area Players Dinner Theater April 19, 2018th The Big Easel, 1784 Maple Ave., Wabeno. "It's A Baseball Spring" will be presented by the Wabeno Area Players 'Third Thursday Readers Theater'. Learn to Hunt for Food- Upland Game Birds starting April 19th 6-8pm Antigo Town Hall & Fire Department, 700 Edison St., Antigo. The Wisconsin DNR is excited to announce a new opportunity to learn about harvesting sustainable & healthy upland wild game. The program officers novice adults an opportunity to learn about the benefits of eating upland wild game, recipes, and how to effectively harvest wild game. There will be opportunities to handle a shotgun & to develop their skills in shooting. The class will also get to sample locally raised and harvested wild game. In May, students will get to participate in a pheasant hunt. Finally, students will be paired with a mentor for a ruffed grouse hunt in September. Langlade County Ice Age Trail Spring Hike April 21st 9am-3pm Langlade County Fairgrounds - County Forestry Office, 1633 Neva Rd., Antigo.  Join us for the Langlade County Ice Age Chapter's spring hike on a section of the Ice Age Trail in Langlade County. Meet in front of the Langlade County Forestry Office. Participants are encouraged to wear suitable clothing & bring a lunch. Transportation to the trail head will be provided from the fairgrounds. Forest County Historical Society Museum Annual Tea Party April 21st 10:30am & 1:30pm Forest County Historical Society Museum, 105 W. Jackson Street, Crandon. This popular event is a fundraiser for the museum. The tea party will feature tea, scones, finger sandwiches and other culinary delights. There are two scheduled seatings. This year we are honoring the women’s suffrage movement. Join us as we step back to a time of soft music, conversation and good food. Shawn Barke Benefit April 21st 3-8pm Wildlife Bar & Campground, N4597 Willow Lane, Birnamwood. Shawn recently suffered a spinal stroke which left him paralyzed from the waist down. He was also diagnosed with Stage 4 metastasized prostate cancer. All funds raised from this event will go towards his medical expenses. National Mutual Benefit will match funds raised up to $1,250. There will be raffles, a silent auction and food. Raffle tickets are $5 each or 3 for $10. Forest County Bird Quest April 22nd 1pm Wabeno Park Pavilion, Wabeno. Celebrate Earth Day with a day of birding!  Forest County youth & families are invited to spend some time outdoors with a group of local Bird Nerds & 4-H manager Michelle Gobert in search of birds around the Wabeno boardwalk trail.  We’ll begin with birding basics: using binoculars & field guides, identifying &d finding birds, then practice our new skills. Beginners & experts welcomed. Participants should meet at the Wabeno Park Pavilion behind the bandshell.  Participants should wear sturdy footwear, dress appropriately for the weather & bring along drinking water. Children must be accompanied by a registered adult. The trip may be cancelled in the event of heavy rain or snow. Persons registering on the website will be notified by email by 9pm of the previous day in the event of cancellation.
