Antigo Area Community Food Pantry August 28th11am-1pm (Wednesdays) & August 30th 1pm-3pm (Fridays), 2120 Progress Blvd., Antigo (715) 623-1103. Our monthly donation focus for month of August will be peanut butter. For September, our focus will be canned protein: chicken, tuna, turkey & ham. The following is a testimonial from an individual helped by the Antigo Community Food Pantry this year: “I am going through a divorce right now and do not qualify for food stamps.  The helping hand I get from the pantry allows me to put a roof over our head and clothing on the bodies of my two children.”

Monday Night Women's Road Bike Ride August 26th 5:30pm Langlade Hospital, 112 E. 5th Ave., Antigo. The Women’s ride meets every Monday evening at 5:30pm at the Langlade Hospital parking lot off Hwy F. Everyone is welcome. Once a month they will meet somewhere different in the county. The alternative rides start at 5:45. Please email Mary Jo Filbrandt for directions and the routes for these alternative rides. Monday Night Run/Walk with Jack Lake Silent Sports Association August 26th 5:30-8:30pm Jack Lake Mountain Bike Trail, N8375 Park Road, Deerbrook. Start your week out on the trail! Join the Jack Lake Silent Sports Association on Mondays at 5:30 pm for a run/walk on the single track trails. They will meet at the trailhead located to the right when entering Veterans Memorial Park.  You can then run, hike, or skip your own distance and pace and meet back when you are finished. Run/walk will happen rain or shine! Feel free to stay and socialize after. The bikers have Thursday night rides if that's more your style! For more information, please call 715-216-5662.

Music in the Park – Bear Creek Band (Variety) August 26th Food & pies starting at 5:30pm; concerts start 6pm. City Park West, 700 block of Aurora St., Antigo. Bring your lawn chairs & listen to the Music in the Park! Concerts held every Monday & Thursday, June-August. In the event of severe weather, concerts are held at the Heinzen Pavilion in Peaceful Valley. Free admission. Food will be available.

Tuesday Morning “Geezer” Bike Rides August 27th 9am Peaceful Valley Warming House, 420 Field St.,  Antigo. Tuesday Morning “Geezer” Bike Rides are every Tuesday morning. 10 Warning Signs of Alzheimer’s Education Program August 27th 1-2:30pm Antigo Public Library, 617 Clermont St., Antigo. The Alzheimer’s Association has developed the new 10 Warning Signs of Alzheimer’s Education Program to help people recognize the common signs of the disease & know what to watch for in themselves & others. The free, 1 hour program will: explore typical age-related changes, describe common signs of Alzheimer’s & dementia, offer tips on how to approach someone with memory concerns, explain the importance of early detection & benefits of diagnosis, detail possible tests & assessments for the diagnostic process & identify helpful Alzheimer’s Association resources. NorthLakes Community Clinic Open House August 27th 5-6:30pm NorthLake’s Community Clinic, 15397 Hwy. 32, Lakewood. NorthLakes CEO, Reba Rice, will speak about the value of community health centers in rural Wisconsin. We will be serving food with refreshments. Guests will also have the opportunity to meet our staff and take tours of the clinic. Join us for this celebratory event.

Preschool Story Time August 28th 10:30-11:30am Antigo Public Library, 617 Clermont St., Antigo. Join us for story time at the Antigo Public Library! This is a great way for kids who haven't started school yet to meet & socialize with peers. Every week we'll read 2 or 3 books together as well as doing some songs & movement. We also do a simple craft or coloring page that helps kids develop creativity & motor skills, & occasionally (attendance permitting) other activities such as parachute play. This event is geared towards preschoolers, but older or younger kids are welcome to attend as well.

Play & Learn August 29th 9:30-11am N4013 Hwy. 45, Antigo. Play & Learn is a weekly play group program for parents, caregivers & children from birth to age 5. Staff will provide a parent lesson, an activity for parents & children to do together.  The activity will build skills for school readiness & milestone achievement. Quarterly Ages & Stages questionnaires are made available to parents & caregivers to assist families in helping their children to reach age based development milestones. Post Lake Labor Day Weekend Bullhead Tournament August 30th-September 1st PLIA Building, W8684 Cty. Rd. K, Elcho. The Post Lake Labor Day Weekend Bullhead Tournament allows you to start fishing anytime on Friday and will end with a weigh-in at noon on Sunday, at the PLIA building. Fish anywhere on Upper and Lower Post Lakes. Prizes for the most total weight caught. Categories for adult and children. Some of the catch will be smoked and eaten. Antigo Farmer’s Market August 31st 8am-Noon Heinzen Pavilion, 603 6th Avenue, Antigo. All produce is locally grown by the vendor who sells them. Shopping at the Antigo Farmer’s Market is a great way to get local, in season food, and make connections with the people that grew it.

Antigo MOPS (Mothers Of Preschoolers), a chapter of an international group that offers encouragement and support to moms of kids ages 0-5. The Hope Life Center Mobile Unit will be parked in the Goodwill parking lot off Hwy 64 in Antigo every Monday from 10:00am until 5:00pm. All services are FREE and CONFIDENTIAL.
