Dolores Jean Hetzel, 89

Dolores J. Hetzel, 89, formerly of Birnamwood, died Sunday, December 18, 2016 at the Homme Home of Wittenberg, under the care of Asera Care Hospice.

She was born on October 3, 1927 in the Town of Norrie, Marathon County, the daughter of the late Ira and Georgia (Brisbin) Knight.

On June 20, 1947, Dolores was united in marriage to Russell Hetzel in Birnamwood. He preceded her in death on March 24, 1984.

Dolores worked for over 20 years at the Wausau Medical Center in the Physical Therapy Department. She also taught piano lessons for years. Dolores was a member of the Congregational Church in Birnamwood and was the organist for over 50 years. She enjoyed music, traveling and baking cakes, but she loved spending time with her family.

Survivors include one son, Dwight Hetzel, Merrill; one son-in-law, Gary Wolff, Wittenberg; eight grandchildren, Ira (Pearl) Hetzel, Hatley, Christopher Hetzel, Erik Hetzel and Patrick (Casey) Hetzel, all of Wausau, Scott (Monica) Wolff, Rothschild, Kevin (Barb) Wolff, Birnamwood, Kurt (Christine) Wolff, Wittenberg and Kara (Joseph) Burclaw, Wausau; 15 great-grandchildren, Matt, Robert, Kodi, Damon, Jazmine, Tearaince, Kaylee, Gabrielle, Connor, Brianna, Landon, Sawyer, Davin, Dean and Mallory and her sisters-in-law, Jerelyn Knight, Birnamwood, Mavis Hetzel, Gurnee, IL and Shirley Hetzel, Lake Delavan. She is also survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

In addition to her parents and husband, Dolores was preceded in death by her daughter, Karlie Wolff;  grandson, Todd Wolff;  three brothers, Duane Knight, Rolland Knight and Clinton Knight and three sisters, Evelyn Peasley, Shelvey Knoble and Helen Knight in infancy.

The Funeral Service will be held at 11am on Friday, December 23, 2016 at the Congregational Church, Birnamwood. Rev. Dave Legge will officiate. Interment will be in Forest Cemetery, Birnamwood. Visitation will be on Thursday from 4pm until 8pm at Schmidt & Schulta Funeral Home, Birnamwood and on Friday from 10am until the time of services at the church.
