Dorothy Bartz "Sis", of Antigo, died Tuesday, October 29, 2019, at Care Partners under the care of LeRoyer Hospice. She was 89 years old. She was born on August 24, 1930, in Antigo, a daughter of Frank and Mary (Barta) Cernoch. She married Forest Bartz on April 15, 1950, at St Matthew Lutheran Church in Deerbrook. He preceded her in death on December 28, 2011.
She attended Deerbrook Graded School and graduated from Antigo High School in 1948.
While in high school she began working at McClellans Dime Store. She later was employed at the Antigo Glove Factory followed by Preis Apparel all in Antigo. After raising her children Sis worked in the lab at the Kraft plant in Antigo from 1969 until retirement in 1986.
She was a longtime member of Peace Lutheran Church and their Dorcas Society.
She enjoyed playing cards and attending polka dances "with the gang", following the Milwaukee Brewers, Green Bay Packers, and Wisconsin Badgers.
Survivors include a daughter, Pamela (Bryan) Zehrt, Solon, Iowa; a daughter-in-law, Debra Bartz, Illinois; nine grandchildren, several great-grandchildren; a sister, Betty Doucette of Antigo; many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband she was preceded in death by a daughter, Cheryl Krajewski; two sons, Keith and Michael Bartz; a son in law, Larry Krajewski; two sisters Evelyn (George) Wells, Marion (Gene) Yingling; six brothers, Winfred (Agnes) Cernoch, Robert (Marie) Cernoch, Dale (Virginia) Cernoch, Norvel Cernoch, James Cernoch, Merton Cernoch; a brother-in-law, Gerald Doucette.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, November 1, 2019, at 10:30 a.m. at Peace Lutheran Church with Vicar Chris Deneen officiating. Burial will take place in Elmwood Cemetery.
Visitation will be Thursday from 4 to 7 p.m. at Bradley Funeral Home and Friday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of services at the church.
