Fern Dailey, age 98, of Rhinelander and formerly of Elcho, entered into her eternal life Friday, September 22, 2017 at Cumberland Heights in Rhinelander.
Fern was born on April 3, 1919 to the late James and Lucy (Hansen) O’Neil in Antigo, WI.
Fern was a graduate of Elcho High School class of 1937.
On May 20, 1940, she was united in marriage to Paul Dailey at the Little Brown Church in the Vale in Nashua, IA. Paul preceded her in death.
Fern was a skilled homemaker and also worked as a medical secretary at the General Clinic.
Fern was an amazing baker and cook. She was talented with arts and crafts, sewing, upholstery, knitting and gardening.
Survivors include 3 daughters, Bonnie (Guy) Wixtrom of Fayetteville, NC, Peggy Dailey of Minneapolis, MN, and Mary Lynn Grafenauer of Pelican Lake, WI; daughter-in-law, Dawn Dailey; 7 grandchildren, Mark, Jon, Karl, Elizabeth, Dee “Bucky”, Paul, and Alana; and many great and great great grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and husband, Fern was preceded in death by a son, Dee Dailey; a brother, Vernon O’Neil; a sister, Vivian Zechel; and a son-in-law, Terry Grafenauer.
A funeral service will be held on Tuesday at 12:00 PM at Strasser-Roller Funeral Home. Reverend Jon Wixtrom, Fern’s grandson will officiate the service. Visitation will be held from 10:00 AM until the service at the funeral home. Interment will be in Elcho Cemetery.
