Florence Artymiuk, of the town of Antigo, died Thursday, April 9, 2020, at home under the care of her family and LeRoyer Hospice. She was 99 years old. She was born on April 6, 1921, in Milwaukee, a daughter of Frank and Mary (Nowak) Blady.
She was married to William Kowalski, Sr.. The couple farmed in Deerbrook where they raised their 6 children. They later divorced.
She then married Peter Artymiuk on November 26, 1956. They lived in Milwaukee where Florence was employed at Weyenberg Shoe factory and was a custodian for Milwaukee Public schools. The couple and their three children moved to the town of Antigo in 1970 and operated a dairy farm for many years. Peter preceded her in death in 1992.
Florence was a member of St. Wencel Catholic Church in Neva.
She will be remembered for her whit and her many one liners.
Survivors include four daughters, Jean (Keith) Kamps of Antigo, Judy Schroeder of Bryant, Mary (Clarence) Berdan of Antigo, Caroline Kowalski of Antigo; four sons, Michael A. Artymiuk of Antigo, David (Sandy) Artymiuk of Franklin, Paul (Mary) Kowalski of Deerbrook, Steve (Donna) Kowalski of Antigo; a daughter-in-law, Penny Kowalski of South Dakota; 22 grandchildren, many great-grandchildren, several great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, a son, William Kowalski, Jr.; two grandchildren; a brother, Bernard (Lucille) Blady; a sister, Angeline (Peter) Materi; and her step-father, Frank Hauke.
A private family visitation and Mass will be held.
Graveside services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday April 15, 2020 at St. Wencel Catholic Cemetery, Neva.
