Genevieve Benes, 87

Genevieve Benes, of Antioch, died Sunday, March 24, 2019, at her son's home under the care of hospice. She was 87 years old. She was born on April 21, 1931, in Stanley, Wis. a daughter of the late Bernard and Helen (Symbal) Gutowski. She married Frank Benes on February 3, 1951, at St. Peter Catholic Church in Antioch, IL. He preceded her in death on May 12, 2001.

Genevieve was employed by the state of Illinois, student assistant commission. In 1993 she moved to Antigo.

She was a member of the Women of the Moose Club in Illinois and SS Mary & Hyacinth Catholic Church in Antigo.

She enjoyed crocheting, gardening and house plants.

Survivors include two sons, Frank James (Donna) Benes of Antioch, Ill and Daniel (Rita) Benes of Bryant; a son-in-law, Greg Rowan of Isanti, Minn; six-grandchildren, Kathy, Sandy, Leon, Crystal, Brian and Seirra; a step-grandson, Dan; two sisters, Delores (Melford) Stillson of Sun City, AZ, and Patricia Hula of Las Vegas; two sisters-in-law, Louise Gutowski of Florida and Shirley Gutowski of Peoria, AZ; a brother-in-law, Lester Miller of Antioch, Ill.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Elizabeth Rowan; a sister, Barbara Miller and two brothers, Joseph and Bernard.

A funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, April 6 at 12 p.m. at SS Mary & Hyacinth Catholic Church. Visitation will be Saturday, April 6 from 10 am to 11:30 am at the Bradley Funeral Home.
