For the Antigo Times
The No. 8 seeded Antigo Lady Robins soccer team went up against the Pulaski Red Raiders, a No. 1 seed entering the WIAA Regional Playoffs, on Thursday night in Pulaski to finish out their season after a 10-0 loss.
“The girls knew it was going to be a tough game but still played hard,” Coach Bethany Bauknecht said.
The Red Raiders were able to come away with a quick score at 1:21 into the first half, followed by four more goals spread out in the first ten minutes of the game. The Robins did their best defensively and defended well against the Raiders’ quick offense.
Junior Emily Wald and senior Areonna Schreiber were both able to get shots in the first half. The Robins were able to hold the Raiders for 15 minutes before they struck again at 23:05. That goal was quickly followed by four additional scores, making the tally 9-0 in favor of Pulaski going into the half.
The Robins played well against a team that had a quick offense and they never backed down. They played strong for the remainder of the game but the Raiders were able to strike one more time making the score 10-0, effectively calling the game at 60 minutes.
Antigo goaltender Annette Olsen came away with an impressive 17 saves despite the loss.
The Robins finished their season 2-15-3, one of their best yet.
