Harness Horse Racing Returns to Langlade County Fair

Harness horse racing will return to the Langlade County Fair after a 33 year absence.

Racing starts at 1:00 p.m. on Sunday July 28th.  Fans will have a chance to watch some horses who have not only set track records but have bankrolled hundreds of thousands of dollars in their careers.  Entries will include the 2018 Wisconsin pacing horse of year, Pathologist.  He is owned, trained, and driven by Michael Magee of Shawano, Wi.  Michael is a fourth generation harness racing driver.

13 year old I'm Confident is known around the barn as Big John

13 year old I'm Confident, earnings of $330,000 in his career, is solely trained by his 13 year old owner, Paul Sawyer.  The gelding has 30 wins to his credit, has raced at 28 different racetracks a nearly a dozen states across the country. In the off season, I'm Confident, known around the barn as Big John, makes an appearance at the Midwest Horse Fair in Madison, Wisconsin, educating the 65,000 attendees on harness racing and the Standardbred breed.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Stormin Rustler, age 15, has 54 wins in his career, with earnings of almost half a million

dollars. Stormy recently made his 400th career start in Westfield, Wisconsin, a rare feat for horses of this century. Stormin Rustler is one of the oldest racing horses in the country this year.  He spent most of his life racing on the east coast before coming to Wisconsin.  Stormy is driven by Wisconsin Harness Horse Association president, Danny Carey and is owned and

trained by Amber Sawyer of Mayville, WI.

 

 

 

The Wisconsin Harness Horse Association is excited about this opportunity to showcase some outstanding equine athletes.  Fans are encouraged to come early and watch the horses warm up prior to the races.  All races are one mile, twice around the Antigo half mile track.
