Harriet Maddix, of Four Corners, died Wednesday, May 10, 2017 at home. Her family was at her side as she drifted off to be with the Lord. She was 91 years old. She was born on February 12, 1926 in Antigo, a daughter of John and Anne (Brennen) Rosio. She married Woodrow Maddix in April of 1942. He preceded her in death January of 1988.
Mrs. Maddix worked in potato's for the Schmiege and Guenthner families. She served as sexton of the Ark of The Lord Cemetery for 25 years.
A consummate mother and homemaker, Harriet was an excellent cook and will be long remembered for the pies she baked at the Evergreen Restaurant.
Her passion was reading the bible and listening to the word of God. She was a very faith orientated woman and a member of The Ark of the Lord Church until its closing.
In her spare time she loved to bake, sew quilts, go hunting, fishing and camping.
Survivors include three daughters, Sharon Menting of Antigo, Wendy (Ernie) DeClark, White Lake, Pat (Sam) Zaverousky, Antigo; two sons, Rob (Theresa) Maddix, Custer, South Dakota, James Maddix, Norrie; two daughter-in-laws, Carol Maddix and Diane Maddix both of Bryant; 27 grandchildren, 48 great-grandchildren and 9 great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husband and parents she was preceded in death by a daughter, Barbara Maddix; three sons, Phillip Maddix, Sr., Gary Maddix and Woodrow Maddix, Jr., two grandchildren, Dominic Maddix and Christy Tonsor; two great-grandchildren.
Graveside services will be held on Monday May 15, 2017 at 11:30 a.m. in Ark of the Lord Cemetery, Elton, with Rev. Marvin Kindle officiating.
A fund is being established for a memorial for Harriet. Memorials may be directed to the family.
