Helen Dorothy Blomdahl, formerly of Antigo and Cedarburg, died Sunday, October 20, 2019 in Glenwood City, WI under the care of her family and Mayo Clinic Health Systems Hospice. She was 94 years old.
She was born June 21, 1925 in Antigo, daughter of the late Anton and Helen (Taterka) Spychalla. She married Floyd Blomdahl on August 28, 1948 at St. Hyacinth Catholic Church in Antigo, and he preceded her in death.
Mrs. Blomdahl attended St. Hyacinth School, and graduated from Antigo High School in 1943. She was a homemaker.
She and Floyd enjoyed polka dancing, and they traveled to polka events all around the Midwest. She was an avid writer of letters, and loved to stay in touch with family and friends.
Survivors include 2 daughters, Laura (Harry) Moats of Glenwood City, and Karen (Tim) Rewolinski of Hales Corners; 2 sons, Corey Blomdahl, and Gil Blomdahl, both of Milwaukee; 2 sisters, Grace (Steve) Koss of Antigo, and Leona Baraniak of Milwaukee; 15 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; 3 great-great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; and many dancing friends.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Sue Blomdahl; 2 sisters, Bernice Wisniewski, and Catherine Lese; a brother, Tony Spychalla; 3 brothers in law, Ray Baraniak, Art Wisniewski, and Joe Lese; 1 sister in law, Phyllis; and a grandson, Tyler Blomdahl.
A funeral mass will take place at 12:00 P.M. Thursday, October 24, 2019 at SS. Mary & Hyacinth Catholic Church, with Father Matt Simonar officiating. Visitation will be 11:30-12:00 Thursday at the church. Entombment will follow the service at Queen of Peace Mausoleum.
