High school students will participate in week-long food drive

Posted

By Kira McDonald

Captain Poultry Week is arriving quickly, and just in time for Thanksgiving.

Each year, students at Antigo High participate in the week-long food drive. Starting November 16, the high school will collect both change and non-perishable items from the students, including paper products, boxed and canned food items, as well as baby and personal hygiene items. Students are also encouraged to participate in dress-up days, such as pajama day, Mathletes vs. Athletes day, and camo and orange day.

The week is about the community coming together to raise money and collect donations for the local food pantry, which distributes a significant amount of non-perishable items during the holiday season. Every student's support in the week is encouraged, because every person should be able to enjoy Thanksgiving and celebrate with the ones they love.

Each class gets points for dressing up and bringing donations during the week. The class with the most points at the end of the week gets their graduation year added to this turkey flag on display in the high school commons.
