FOR ANTIGO TIMES
Alexandra Hofrichter had an amazing afternoon on Sunday March 3rd, 2019 wrestling to a 3rd place finish in the 152 lb. weight division at the Wisconsin Women’s High School State Wrestling Tournament held in Marshfield.
In her first match of the tournament, Alex faced off against #1 ranked Tabitha Breitrick (Sr.) of Clintonville. Despite a fantastic effort, she ended up losing via pin fall in 3:16. After that, it was all pins for her. In her first match in the consolation bracket, she topped 8th ranked Amy Burmeister (Sr.) of Wrightstown in a blistering 22 seconds. Next up for Alex was Independence Jaworski of Green Bay United, who she also made quick work of getting the pin fall in 36 seconds. Having now secured a place on the podium, next up was Emily Mueller (So.) of Wausau West. Alex controlled the entire match and finally got the fall in 2:40. In the 3rd place match she faced 2nd ranked Erin Braun (Jr.) of Reedsville. After an exciting first period, Alex wound up on her back and found herself down 9-7 going into the 3rd and final frame. With a quick reversal by Braun, Hofrichter needed 5 points for the victory. She was able to get a reversal of her own on her way to the fall at 3:53.
Alex will now gear up for the Youth State Qualifier Tournament held in Merrill on March 16, 2019.
