THE HIGHGROUND
At the beginning of November each year, The Highground turns on the “honor stars” on the Plaza as part of their annual Holiday Lights Program. This special initiative offers supporters a unique way to honor their loved ones or show their appreciation for our veterans during the holiday season.
Beginning the first week of November until March 31 of the following year, these twinkling lights are lit every evening along both sides of the Park’s center walkway. There are 26 4-foot tall, green metal star stakes decorated with white holiday lights. Each star supports a 7.5” x 9.5” laminated holiday certificate that can be printed with a maximum of six lines/twenty characters each.
“Not only do the holiday lights add a special ambiance to the Park at night during the winter, but it also reminds us that family and friends are the light in our lives,” states a long-time volunteer at The Highground who ordered a star for their father this year.
As of December 16, The Highground is delighted to have 24 of the 26 honor stars reserved and extends their gratitude to everyone who has supported this program. Visitors are invited to experience the Park at night if they’re in the area after sunset.
