Jacqueline Lois “Jackie” Pecha, age 87, died Tuesday, September 17, 2019 at Care Partners Assisted Living under the care of LeRoyer Hospice and her family.
Jackie was born on December 4, 1931 in Watertown, WI to the late Royce R. and Gladys (Weigmann) Hix. On November 27, 1955, she was united in marriage to Donald Pecha at St. Joseph’s Rectory in Phlox. Donald preceded her in death on May 25, 1995.
Jackie was a graduate of Antigo High School class of 1950. She attended the Langlade County Normal School, obtaining her teaching degree. She taught at the one room schoolhouse, Fernwood School, here in Langlade County. She then worked for Don Schroeder Potato Farms. From 1968 until 1996, Jackie was employed by the Antigo Unified School District as a school secretary at Pleasant View Elementary School.
Jackie was a member of St. John Lutheran Church in Polar, where she was active as a Sunday school teacher and helped with meals at the church. Her faith was her guide and most definitely contributed to her ever positive character.
Jackie was a nature lover who loved her country home. She enjoyed walks through the woods, downhill and cross country skiing, snowmobiling, golfing and horseback riding. She was a wonderful baker. She was a Green Bay Packer and Elvis Presley fan. Jackie was a loyal friend and she dearly treasured her lifelong friendships. She very much loved her children and grandchildren and was quick to remind them that she was “rough and tough and hard to bluff”.
Survivors include 3 sons; Dennis (Michele) of Antigo, Kris (Joy) of Antigo, Kurt (Lynn) of Summit Lake, 3 grandchildren; Jennifer (Lee) Beran, Joshua Pecha, Amanda (Jeremy Jones) Pecha, 7 great grandchildren; Alexia Nelson, Collin Jones, Taylor Pecha, Tori Pecha, Cody Beran, Jeremy “JJ” Jones, Jr., and Jordyn Jones. 7 step grandchildren; Kristen Beck, Travis Krueger, Darren Grassman, Marty Sprangers, Robin Sprangers, Heidi Domro, Danielle Bullocks and their families. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband and parents, Jackie was preceded in death by a daughter Marcia Pecha and 2 brothers; Rodney and Don Hix.
Funeral services will be held on Friday at 12:00 noon at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Polar. Visitation will be from 10:00 AM until the service at the church. Vicar Pam Werth will officiate. Interment will be in St. John’s Lutheran Church Cemetery.
The family extends a heartfelt thank you to Care Partners Assisted Living, LeRoyer Hospice and Rosalia Gardens for the loving care given to Jackie.
In lieu of flowers, memorials in Jackie’s name may be directed to Alzheimer’s Association Wisconsin Northern Chapter.
