Janet Olson of Antigo, beloved wife, mother and grandmother passed away peacefully on Wednesday, December 19, 2018 at The Bay at Eastview Medical and Rehabilitation center, under the care of LeRoyer Hospice. She was 75 years old.
Janet was born on September 2, 1943 in Merrill to the late Clarence and Margaret (Schultz) Samuelson. She graduated from Merrill High School in 1961. On January 22, 1972 Janet married Duane Olson at the Christ United Methodist Church of Merrill, he survives.
Janet was a secretary at Massey-Ferguson in Racine until she married Duane. She was then a homemaker on the family Christmas Tree farm where they also raised beef cattle. She was a volunteer for many church and community activities, including the SHARE food program. She also enjoyed volunteering her time as a parent volunteer at Crestwood Elementary School and as a girl scout leader. She enjoyed teaching Sunday school at the Antigo United Methodist Church and caring for elderly friends, neighbors and relatives. Her enjoyed hobbies included knitting, crocheting, gardening, canning, and babysitting the children of friends and neighbors. She was a passionate pet lover and avid Packer and Brewer fan. The world stopped spinning when the Packers and Brewers were playing. Janet was also known for her excellent cooking and would provide meals for the workers on the farm.
In addition to her husband Duane, her survivors include her daughters Susan Olson of Antigo, Jennifer Olson and granddaughter Kaylyn Hafner of Wausau, brother Leon (Kathryn) Samuelson of Rhinelander, sister-in-law law Karen (Glenn) Samuelson of Merrill, nephews Nathan (Julie) Samuelson, Jeff (Trinci) Samuelson, Alan Samuelson, Brian (Shari) Samuelson, nieces Amanda Samuelson, JoAnn Johnson, April (Jason) Kemen, great nieces Rachel Samuelson, Teja Samuelson, Jate Samuelson, Brianna (TJ) Morris, and Kally (Eric) Jehn, great nephews, Alex Samuelson, Louis Johnson Jr. and Riley Johnson, a great great nephew Boone Jehn and a great great niece Ember Leon.
In addition to her parents, Janet was preceded in death by her brother Glenn Samuelson and a nephew Stephen Samuelson.
A funeral service for Janet will be held on Saturday, December 29 at 11:00 AM at United Methodist Church. Reverend Debbie Pimm will officiate. A visitation will be held on Friday, December 28th from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM at Strasser-Roller Funeral Home and on Saturday at the church from 10:00 AM until the service. Interment will be in Elmwood Cemetery.
