Jesse J. Shelton Jr., of Elcho, died Saturday, May 9, 2020, at his home. He was 72 years old. He was born on August 16, 1947, in Florida a son of Jesse Shelton and Evelyn Rowe. He married Joni Dettman on October 1, 1988.
Jesse served in the United States Navy from June 28, 1965 to October 23, 1968.
He did masonry work with his brother-in-law, Norm and Buff in Florida. He moved to Elcho in 1994 and owned J & J Construction in Elcho.
Jesse enjoyed fishing with Pappa Charlie, playing cribbage, and a cold Budweiser.
Survivors include his wife, Joni; two children, Susie (Jeff) Moore of Michigan and Chris Shelton; step-children, Mark (Anna) Rose of Dorchester and Sherry Rose of Elcho; adopted son, Sal Munoz of Shawano; adopted daughter, Nikki Welch of Pelican Lake; five grandchildren, Jordan Thiel, Tayler Raith, Kammron and Kendall Rose, and O'ryan Rose; two sisters, Paula (Norm) Peeples and Lynn (Bob) Storer all of Florida.
A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, May 19, 2020, at 11 a.m. at the Upper Room Family Church, Elcho with Rev. Shane Wheeler officiating. Burial will take place in the Elcho Cemetery, where Elcho veterans will provide military honors.
Visitation will be Tuesday, May 19 from 10 to 11 a.m. at the church. Those who attend will be asked to follow social distancing guidelines.
