Coming off of a strong 11-1 win over Wausau East last Monday evening, the Antigo Lady Robins softball team took care of an improved Northland Pines team on Tuesday with a 14-0 road win and a sensational Allison Kondzela no-hitter.

“Northland Pines is much improved from our first time seeing them. Allison Kondzela was just too dominant today 11 strikeouts and a five-inning no hitter. Kendall Smith contributed a big grand slam but we also had 5 doubles. [It was] a good team win where everyone got time. Hopefully this helps build momentum for Medford and Wisconsin Rapids. We have a lot of games over the next week,” Coach Sandi Robrecht said.

Kondzela’s five innings were nearly perfect except for a hit batter and a subsequent sacrifice. Antigo’s ace struck out 11 batters while walking none, while her Eagle counterpart, Taylor Olivetti, took the loss having allowed 13 hits and five walks with three Robin batters striking out.

Kendall Smith laid into the bat in the fifth inning, knocking a grand slam that would go for her only hit of the day. Molly Fermanich, Abi Fleischman and Kondzela each finished 2-3 on the day, while five Lady Robins would post doubles as Pines struggled to control Antigo.

Antigo continues a long stretch of games after last Tuesday’s no-hit win, including Thursday against Medford, a Saturday doubleheader against Wisconsin Rapids Lincoln, and a big time GNC showdown against the Hodags in Rhinelander next Tuesday evening at 5 PM.
