Lamond "Jim" Husnick, of Antigo, died Monday January 13, 2020 at Care Partners under the care of his family and LeRoyer Hospice. He was 87 years old. He was born on March 13, 1932, in the town of Rolling, a son of Wenzel and Bertha (Engl) Husnick. He married Loretta Bricko on May 14, 1955, at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Aniwa. She survives.
He served in the United States Army having been in active duty in Korea from 1952 to 1954. While in service he made two lifelong friends from Wausau Jerry Laffin and Norman "Red" Madden.
Following military service he returned to Antigo and worked on the Harvey Guenthner Potato farms followed by a long career working for the Langlade County Highway Department retiring in 1991 as assistant highway commissioner.
In retirement he worked for Duffek Sand and Gravel and Krueger and Steinfest.
He was a lifelong member of St. John Catholic Church, was a member of the Conrad Salie Knights of Columbus Council 1002, and the Conrad Salie Assembly #1214 Fourth Degree, Antigo, the Leland-Tollefson Veterans of Forgein Wars Post #2653.
He was privileged to go on the Never Forgotten Honor Flight to the memorials in Washington D.C. in 2017.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing, working in his shop, playing cards - especially with his brothers. Time with his grandchildren, family and helping others is what Jim valued most.
Survivors including his wife are three sons, James (Bonnie) Husnick, Antigo, Robert (Rhonda) Husnick, Antigo, Jeffery Husnick, Neenah; a daughter, Deborah (Troy) Gray, Oostburg; nine grandchildren Jamie (Jason), Kevin, Jared, Taylor (Jake), Kristopher, Alyssa, Kaitlyn, Ryan, Tonya; six great-grandchildren; a sister, Evelyn Menting of Antigo; four brothers, Kenneth (Agnes) Husnick, Raymond (Judith) Husnick, Donald (Ginger) Husnick, Herbert (Kitty) Husnick all of Antigo; a sister-in-law, Rose Husnick; his wife's family Ralph Bricko, Charles (Susie) Bricko, Rosie (Rich) Mullins, Shirley Bricko; many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, three brother, Eugene Husnick, Wenzel Husnick, Jr., Leon Husnick; a sister, Mary Schisel; three sisters-in-law, Genevieve Husnick, Lorraine Husnick, Shirley Husnick; two brothers-in-law, Leonard Schisel, Matt Menting; and his wife's family Roger (Regina) Bricko, Allan Bricko
The funeral Mass will be on Friday January 17, 2020, at 10:30 a.m. at St. John Catholic Church with Rev. Charles Hoffmann officiating. Burial will take place in Queen of Peace Cemetery. Antigo Veterans will conduct military honors following services at the church on Friday.
Visitation will be 3:30 to 7 p.m. on Thursday at the Bradley Funeral Home and Friday from 9 to 10 a.m. at the funeral home. A parish wake service will be held at 6 p.m. at the funeral home. Knights of Columbus will recite the rosary at 5 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
The family would like to thank the staffs of Care Partners and LeRoyer Hospice for their loving care of Jim. Also to Fr. Hoffmann for his many visits that lifted Jim's spirits.
