LANGLADE COUNTY HEALTH DEPARTMENT TAKES STEPS TO PROMOTE A HEALTHY COMMUNITY

April 4^th –10^th is National Public Health Week

In recognition of National Public Health Week, the staff at Langlade County Health Department would like to take this opportunity to share with the community all the ways the Health Department is here to help individuals lead healthier lives.

“We all have a role in making our communities healthier places to live and Langlade County Health Department is excited to lead the way,” said Ron Barger, Director of the Health and Social Services. “Even small steps can make a big difference in helping to prevent chronic diseases.”

Toward that effort, the Health Department provides access to the following services:

• Women’s Infants and Children’s Program (WIC)
• Immunizations for both children and adults
• Investigation of communicable disease outbreaks
• Enforce laws and regulations that protect health and ensure safety
• Identify, investigate, control, and prevent health problems and hazards in the community
• Monitor health status to identify community health problems
• Promote community partnerships to identify and solve health problems
• Create policies and plans that support individual and community health efforts
• Link people to needed health services
• Many other services that promote health and safety in the community

National Public Health Week is designed to showcase the role that public health agencies play in making illness prevention possible for this generation and generations to come.
