Langlade County Senior Citizens Club

The next meeting of the Langlade County Senior Club is Tuesday, March 8, 2016 from 1:30pm to 3pm. We meet at the Antigo Public Library, 617 Clermont St, Antigo, in the meeting room off of the main hallway. Guests are always welcome to join in on the meal and check us out.

Our meeting opens for some general discussion of any members previous month’s activities; any illnesses of members; and recognizes those who have grown one year older. We then hold a door prize drawing for 10 lucky winners as well as play some light hearted bingo. Please call Doug at 715-623-2253, if you have any questions.

At our February 2016 meeting Kathy Schultz, from our Aging Disability Resource Center office spoke on: (a) tax form 1095B a healthcare form received from the State of Wisconsin and must be used if you file federal taxes; (b) homestead is being done at CoVantage Credit Union; (c) and that the IRS telephone scam, started in 2013, is back. The caller aggressively says you owe back taxes and need to send money. Our Aging Disability & Resource Center office is located at 1225 Langlade Road, Antigo.

Under the President’s report he spoke on: he made sure member keep their address current for postcard mailings on issues; the copies of the Alliance for Retired Americans Friday Alert and Wisconsin Alliance for Retired Americans newsletter were available talking about politicians still trying to privatize Social Security and to raise the Medicare age; he gave an update on the Senior Center task force and reminded members it meets the first Wednesday of each month at the ADRC building. He also asked members to contact their elected city, county, and school board members of the need for a senior center and a handout with all the contact information was available.

Check us out and please bring your ideas for club activities which are not only important to seniors but for the betterment of our community. Our procedure is to allow any first time attendee to enjoy taking part in our door prize drawing and bingo. Upon their return at another meeting, we would hope they would join.
