Leroy John Bamke, 86

Leroy J. Bamke, 86 of Birnamwood, died on Friday, January 5, 2018 at his home.

He was born on September 22, 1931, in the town of Elderon, the son of the late Frnak and Olga (Steinhelder) Bamke.

On May 2, 1953, Leroy was united in marriage to Eleanor Brown at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Wittenberg. She preceded him in death on April 9, 1994.

Leroy was a United States Army veteran serving during the Korean War. He was a truck driver for 7UP, Wausau Homes and SNE. He enjoyed deer hunting and was an avid Milwaukee Brewer’s fan. Leroy especially enjoyed watching the Eland Engineers baseball games and loved to socialize with friends at local establishments.

Survivors include his significant other; Dolores ‘Dee’ Bostwick of Birnamwood; two children, Wayne Bamke of Eland and Lynn (Jim Jr.) Yaeger of Rosholt; five grandchildren, Briana (fiance Garth Beyer) and Jake Bamke, Dalton, Damian and Mackenzie Yaeger and Dee's children, Dawn (Corey) Dobbs of Hatley and their son, Josh and Bob (Patty) Dillman of Wittenberg and their children Travis & Mallory.

Leroy was preceded in death by his parents, wife, two brothers; Harold and Edward 'Tubby' Bamke and two sisters, Dorothy Kiedrowski and Lorraine Kiedrowski.

A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, January 12, 2018 at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Wittenberg. Rev. Matthew Christians will officiate. Inurnment will be in Evergreen Rest Cemetery, Elderon with military rites conducted by the Elderon Memorial Post #8068 VFW. Visitation will be on Friday from 9:00 AM until the time of service at the church.
