Mary Jane Fleischman, 86

Mary Jane Fleischman, of Wausaukee, died Saturday March 4, 2017 at St. Vincent Hospital in Green Bay. She was 86 years old. She was born on July 18, 1930 in Antigo, a daughter of Joseph and Marie (Schisel) Skarlupka. She married Elmer Fleischman on November 21, 1953 in Antigo. He preceded her in death on April 17, 2006.

She was valedictorian of her Antigo High School graduating class and attended nursing school at St. Mary Hospital in Wausau. She was employed as a registered nurse at Langlade Memorial Hospital in Antigo for several years.

After marriage her husband was drafted into the United States Army. She moved with her husband as he was stationed in a number of cities throughout the United States.

After military service they returned to the Antigo area for 10 years. In June 1967 the family moved to Wausaukee where Mary Jane focused on raising their children and operating a dairy farm.

Survivors include seven daughters, Lanita (Wayne) Schwartz of L'Anse, Michigan, Mary (Dave) Putzer, Oshkosh, Alice Fleischmann, Merrill, Heidi Fleischmann, DePere, Margie (Chad) Atwood, Athelstane, Beth (Patrick) Phillips, Medford, Amy (Bill) Gramins, Boyceville; six sons, Elmer (Dale) Fleischman, Idaho Falls, ID, Mark Fleischman, Merrill, Henry Fleischman, Wausaukee, Christopher (Theresa) Fleischman, Texas, Jay (Kendall) Fleischman, Ft. Collins, Colorado, Jonathan (Clara) Fleischmann, Sheboygan Falls; 64 grandchildren and 57 great-grandchildren; a sister, Irene Frisch, Antigo; three brothers, George (Carol) Skarlupka, Pelican Lake, David (Jean) Skarlupka, Pelican Lake, Andrew (Phyllis) Skarlupka, Merrill; a sister-in-law, Georgiann Skarlupka, White Lake.

In addition to her husband and parents she was preceded in death by a daughter, Rose Holtz, a son, Kevin Fleischman, six grandchildren Theresa, Tina, Timothy and Benjamin Holtz, Jessica Fleischman and Francis Phillips; three sisters, Dorothy (Elmer) Rose, Virginia (Ted) Laycock, Florence Skarlupka; two brothers, Bernard and Joseph Skarlupka; a brother-in-law Lawrence Frisch.

The funeral Mass will be held on Thursday March 9, 2017 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Mary's Oratory, 325 Grand Avenue Wausau, with Fr. Francis Altiere as celebrant. Burial will take place in Queen of Peace Cemetery, Antigo.

Visitation will be at the church, Thursday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of services.
