Mary Vlasta Zemanek, 99

Mary Vlasta Zemanek, of the town of Neva, died Sunday, May 10, 2015 at Rosalia Gardens under the care of her family and LeRoyer Hospice. She was 99 years old. She was born on October 4, 1915 in Chicago, IL a daughter of Bohumil and Marie (Havranek) Vojta. She married Ludwig Zemanek on July 12, 1941 in Chicago. He preceded her in death on July 27, 1992.

She graduated from Harrison High School in Chicago and was employed at Albany Coal Company. In 1943 she moved to Neva and dairy farmed with her husband until 1980.

Mrs. Zemanek assisted her husband as treasurer of the town of Neva and was a founding member of the Little Chicago Homemakers Club.

She wrote the "History of Little Chicago School" and was proud to have planted thousands of pine trees on pasture land.

In her later years she enjoyed traveling, taking trips to Alaska, Quebec and Italy.

Survivors include a son, Kenneth (Ann) Zemanek of Hemet, CA; three daughters, Janet Dixon of Owatonna, MN, Janice (Bill) Cutler of Palatine, IL and Ellen (Bob) Christenson of Stevens Point; 10 grandchildren, Angela Estavillo, Matt and Jon Zemanek, Dave and Jeff Dixon, Barb and Beth Cutler and Jennifer Williams, Jill Horst, and Jane Christenson; six great grandchildren, Joey Estavillo, Bobby and Becca Williams and Autumn, Adrik and Tybin Horst.

In addition to her husband she was preceded in death by her brother, Otto Vojta.

A funeral service will be held on Friday at 12:30 p.m. at Bradley Funeral Home with Rev. Omer Kelley officiating. Visitation will be Friday from 11 a.m. until the time of service at the funeral home.
