Maude Helen Kautza, of Aniwa, died Sunday, February 11, 2018, at Bell Tower Residence in Merrill under the care of Ministry Hospice. She was 100 years old. She was born on March 12, 1917, in Oshkosh, a daughter of Fred and Maud (La Montagne) Fellner. She married Leonard Kautza on August 17, 1939, at St. John Catholic Church in Antigo. He preceded her in death on November 21, 1993.
She was a graduate of Antigo High School, class of 1935, and then attended Stone Beauty School in Chicago. She and Leonard owned Kautza's IGA Store in Aniwa for 43 years, retiring in 1978.
She was a member of St. Boniface Catholic Church, St. Monica's Christian Mothers Society and the Aniwa Homemakers Club.
Survivors include two daughters, Rita (Dr. Ronald) Benz of San Diego, CA and Mary (Dan) McKown of Phoenix, AZ, four sons, Michael (Susan) Kautza of Pinedale, WY, Greg (Lin) Kautza of Merrill, Andrew Kautza of Wausau and Paul (Lana) Kautza of Naperville, IL. 16 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren; three sisters Jane Jansen, Susan Brown and Betty Hughes.
In addition to her husband Leonard, she was preceded in death by a son, Nicholas John, sisters Ruth Tooley, Mary Smith and brothers, Francis, John and Frederick Fellner.
A funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday February 24, 2018 at St. Boniface Catholic Church, Aniwa with Rev. Charles Hoffmann officiating. Visitation will be Friday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Bradley Funeral Home and Saturday from 9 to 10 a.m. at the church. Burial at St. Boniface Catholic Cemetery.
A parish wake service will be held 6 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
