Michael J. Eklund, age 53, of Antigo, Wisconsin, passed away February 5, 2015. Mr. Eklund was born on June 19, 1961 in Antigo to the late Dean and Virginia (Singer) Eklund. Mike attended Peace Lutheran Elementary School and Antigo High School.
The best years of Mike’s life were spent touring throughout the Midwest and Cananda with the Show and Dance Band, Happyness, during the 1980’s. Mike served as the lights and sound technician for the band. He had many tales to tell about all the people he met while on the road and the deep friendships he formed during those wonderful years.
After the band stopped touring, Mike moved to Wausau where he worked as a foreman at Nanuck Window Blinds for many years.
Mike was a true rock and roller. His passions were rock music, the Wisconsin Badgers and of course, the Green Bay Packers.
Mike is survived by his siblings, Deanna (Gary) Kieper of Antigo, George (Terri) Eklund of Antigo and Besty (Albert) Garza of Schofield. He is further survived by nephews and nieces, Brandon Kieper, Brooke (Joe) Glorioso, Brent (Amanda) Kieper, Josh (Angie) Knutson, Travis (Julie) Thomas, Luke (Riley) Thomas, Shane Jahnke, Shaun (Rachel) Eklund, Shanna (Mike) Laszewski, and Samantha Eklund. He is also survived by great-nephews, great-nieces, aunts, uncles, cousins and dear friends.
A memorial service was held on February 7th, 2015 at Strasser-Roller Funeral Home with Pastor David Karolus as the officiant.
