Paul Waldvogel

Paul D. Waldvogel, age 81, of Aniwa, died on May 15, 2026 at The Bay at Eastview Medical and Rehabilitation Center. He was born on November 25, 1944 in Phlox, a son of Anton and Rose (Menting) Waldvogel. He married Mary Ann Schmidt on September 25, 1965 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Phlox.

Paul was a graduate of Mattoon High School, class of 1962. He received his Associates Degree in Machine Tooling from Northcentral Technical College.

He worked in metal fabrication for 45 years, in Wausau. Following his retirement he did part-time custodial work for Mattoon Elementary, Pleasant View Elementary and Peace Lutheran Ministries. He was a member of St. Boniface Catholic Church in Aniwa and the Monsignor Conrad Saile Council 1002 Knights of Columbus.

Paul enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping at Mayflower Lake, the Green Bay Packers, and traveling, including trips to Europe, Brazil, Alaska, Mexico, Canada and Jamaica and the occasional trip to the casino.

Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Mary Ann; four children, Steve (Shari) Waldvogel of Sparta, MI, Michelle (Shawn) Klysen of Oshkosh, Jason Waldvogel of Hatley, and Jamie (Geoff) Barkume of Wausau; nine grandchildren, Joshua, Madison, Caleb, Isabelle, Aaron, Haley, Brody, Genevieve, and Jaren; and two great-grandchildren, Nash and Harrison.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four sisters, Lorraine Duffy, Florence Duchrow, Kathleen Waldvogel and Mary in infancy; and five brothers, Gordon, James "Jake", Ronald and Cletus and Joseph in infancy.

A funeral Mass will be held on Friday, May 22, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Boniface Catholic Church with Rev. Charles Hoffman officiating.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, May 21 from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Bradley Funeral Home and on Friday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the church.

The Knights of Columbus will recite the Rosary at 3:30 p.m. and a Parish Wake service will be held at 6 p.m. both on Thursday at the funeral home.

Burial will take place Saturday, May 23 at 10 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Phlox.
