Sunday, March 15, 2026

The day began with a series of calls highlighting a mix of neighborhood concerns and winter weather challenges. In the early morning hours, officers responded to an animal complaint involving a friendly dog wearing a shock collar. Shortly after, a beat patrol was conducted at Aspirus Langlade Hospital on 112 E 5th Ave. Traffic enforcement at 4th Ave and Superior St resulted in a VW for defective taillights and a WW for non-registration. As the sun rose, the heavy snow became the primary antagonist; officers were dispatched for multiple motorist assists (10-46) and wrecker requests (10-51) at locations including 200 State Rd 64 (Walmart), Deleglise St and W Pierce Ave, and Hwy 45 and Center. Property damage crashes (10-50) were reported at State Rd 64 and Jerome St and Neva Rd and Mendlik Ave. The afternoon turned somber with a death investigation, while the evening saw minor civil disputes over custody exchanges and a neighbor banging on walls. The day ended with a bit of community maintenance as officers secured a missing stop sign at Clermont St and 6th Ave.

Winter conditions continued to cause travel headaches, with vehicles reported stuck in snowbanks and intersections at 10th Ave and S Superior St throughout the early morning. Officers performed a welfare check on an individual screaming for help in an apartment, which resulted in a lift assist to get the person safely into their recliner. Throughout the morning and afternoon, more 10-50 property damage reports came in from 2nd Ave and Lincoln St and 5th Ave and Clermont St. In the evening, officers mediated a civil complaint regarding snow being shoveled over a privacy fence and responded to a 911 hang-up where only a TV playing the weather could be heard. The night ended with a repeat civil complaint regarding a neighbor banging on a wall.

St. Patrick’s Day started with a report of an intoxicated individual at 3:17 AM followed by a fire call roughly two hours later . Morning patrol discovered a tipped-over item blocking the northbound lane at State Rd 64 and Charlotte Ct. The department also handled lost and found items, including a phone turned in at the front window. Evening activity was characterized by a motorist assist at 2nd Ave and Superior St for a breakdown and a property damage accident at Clermont St and Ackley St . Several NCIC checks were also performed throughout the night.

The day was a productive one for enforcement and assistance. Night shift conducted a 10-2 home check before issuing several warnings (WW) during a traffic stop at 5th Ave and Clermont St. A speeder at 709 S Superior St received a citation. By midday, officers were busy with a string of 10-46 assists for vehicles stuck in the slush at 10th Ave and S Virginia St and Edison St and 5th Ave . A significant event occurred at 1:36 PM when an officer took a subject into custody (10-95) for a warrant at 2124 Clermont St The evening included a retail theft report from Walmart and a report of vehicles "doing donuts" by a walking trail at Byrne St and N Langlade Rd.

The morning hours were occupied with a parking complaint on 5th Ave and Dorr St where a pickup was blocking an alley, and a civil dispute regarding a snow removal business plowing onto the wrong property on 8th Ave. Mid-morning saw a successful 10-95 arrest after a male tried to enter a vehicle on McMillan Ave. Other activity included a gas drive-off on Neva Rd that was eventually resolved and a suspicious activity report of a disabled vehicle with significant damage on Wilson St . The day concluded with an overnight parking request on Deleglise St due to an unplowed driveway.

Friday was active for traffic and safety checks. Early morning stops on Neva Rd and Superior St resulted in several warnings for equipment and a citation for speed. Officers found an open door on Edison St at 3:16 AM but confirmed everything was 10-2 . Daytime calls included a report of a male lingering in a bathroom at a business on Superior St and an assist for a road crew with a wire across the road at Superior St and 1st Ave. The afternoon and evening saw multiple mental health calls and a high-volume traffic stop at 6th Ave and Clermont St, resulting in a subject in custody after a search. A reckless F150 was also cited near the Shawano County Line after swerving across the road.

The morning began with a proactive home check on County Rd X, followed by the removal of an animal carcass from US 45 and County Rd C . As traffic picked up, deputies responded to an accident on County Rd B and County Rd J where a Jeep Wrangler swerved into a ditch to avoid another vehicle. Throughout the morning, officers provided motorist assistance (10-46) for vehicles needing windshield scraping or stuck in ditches, including a tractor on Hill Rd . The afternoon was dominated by civil matters, including a heated dispute on State Rd 47 regarding a neighbor plowing snow onto another’s lot and home. Deputies also issued a citation (CIT) for speeding at State Rd 64 and Ackley Rd. The night took a tense turn when a resident on County Rd T reported a suspicious person in dark clothing opening their door and leaving footprints around windows . Extra patrols were authorized after deputies confirmed tracks near the home but could not locate a suspect.

The day started early with a 1:27 AM check on the County Rd X residence, which appeared secure . Shortly after, a deputy assisted a motorist on State Rd 64 whose Kia Rio was making "weird noises" at high speeds; the officer safely followed her back to Antigo. As the day progressed, the department handled a variety of nature-related calls, including a deer stuck in deep snow near County Rd A and a black lab running loose near State Rd 55. In Gleason, a resident on County Rd CC reported a trespasser taking items from her father’s property. The evening was busy with traffic stops on US 45 and County Rd T, resulting in multiple verbal warnings (VW) for speed, failure to carry a driver's license, and running a stop sign.

Proactive policing was the theme for Friday, starting with early morning home checks on Corey Ln and Pickerel Lake Rd, where properties were found secure with no fresh tracks in the snow. Enforcement action was taken at 2:39 AM on State Rd 55, where a business owner was warned for a liquor law violation after staying open past hours. The morning also saw a report of criminal damage on State Rd 55, where a resident suspected an ex-partner of slashing their vehicle's tire. Afternoon calls included an animal complaint on Elm Rd regarding pigs scaring horses and a report of a grey Chevy pickup driving erratically on US 45. The night concluded with a burglary alarm on S Superior St; deputies and the keyholder cleared the building and found everything to be 10-2.

The weekend began with a reported animal bite on County Rd H and a suspicious activity call near County Rd S, where fresh deer hides were found near a guardrail. A resident on Hillside Rd reported ongoing issues with a neighbor’s dogs trespassing on their property. In the evening, deputies assisted a "very intoxicated" individual on Washington St who was biking toward Antigo and needed a band-aid after an injury. Domestic tensions flared on Antigo St, requiring deputies to separate two parties after a verbal argument. The night was punctuated by a noise complaint on Grey Rd regarding gunfire, though it was determined to be legal target practice.
