Wilbert Boyd was presented with a Quilt of Valor at the Veterans Weekly Cup-of-Coffee meeting at Denny’s in Rothschild on August 13, 2025. Marsha Otto and her sister Marla Berg, volunteers with the Quilts of Valor Foundation awarded Wilbert with the Quilt of Valor.

A Quilt of Valor is a Lifetime Award and each quilt is registered to the Veteran.  A Quilt of Valor is priceless and is awarded to the Veteran who served our nation.  It can never be bought, sold or given as a gift. Know, as we are stitching, we were remembering the sacrifice made for us.  It is a quilt which comes from our heart.  No two quilts are alike, but what is the same is the love we put in making each quilt. A Quilt of Valor is for the living.

Bill was chosen to receive a Quilt of Valor. He served in the United States Army from 1953-1955 during the Korean Conflict. He trained at San Abacus, Missouri and was stationed in the Carolina’s and Georgia. Bill served in the communication division; 229 Signal Company attached to the Army 82nd Airborne. Bill received the Sharpshooter Medal and was discharged with the rank of Corporal.

The Quilts of Valor Foundation is a non-profit group of quilters from across the United States of America.  Their mission is to cover our service members and veterans with a Quilt of Valor in hopes of offering them comforting and healing and to acknowledge their service to our nation.  The group was started in 2003 and have awarded over 410,759 Quilts of Valor.
