Robert "Bob" Kohn, 95

Robert “Bob” Francis Kohn died at Aspirus Wausau Hospital on May 20, 2016 at the age of 95.

He was born September 13, 1920 in Galloway, son of the late Alfred and Jessica (Jackson) Kohn. He was baptized in Galloway and confirmed at St. James Lutheran Church in Shawano on October 31, 1941. He married Deloris Regina Grace Parsons on June 5, 1948 at St. Matthew Lutheran Church in Deerbrook. She preceded him in death on February 10, 2010.

Mr. Kohn was raised in Galloway, Shawano, and logging camps in Northern Wisconsin where his parents worked. He graduated from Shawano High School in 1939, moved to the area with his family in 1941, and then operated a dairy farm in Deerbrook for many years. In addition to farming, he worked as a logger until his retirement at age 78.

He was an active member of St. Matthew Lutheran Church in Deerbook, where he held many leadership positions and taught Sunday School. The Kohns also participated in a Lutheran couples bowling league for many years.

Survivors include 6 daughters, Emily (Barry) Johnson of La Crosse, Marilyn “Pete” Schroepfer of Algoma, Beverly (Jerry) Parr of Merrill, Sally (John) Filipiak of Geneva, IL, Jean (Lee) Nuernberger of Medford, and Connie (Brian) Shier of Gladstone, MI; 2 sons, James (Connie) Kohn of Inver Grove Heights, MN, and Rev. Daniel (Gloria) Kohn of Altoona; 18 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren; a great-great granddaughter; and 3 sisters-in-law, Margaret Bartz of Antigo, Lucille Parsons of Antigo, Bernice Pearson of Wausau.

In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by 3 sisters, Helen Zingler, Marjorie Marotz, and Lois Pingel.

A funeral service will take place at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday at St. Matthew Lutheran Church in Deerbrook. Visitation will be 10:00-11:00 a.m. Wednesday at the church. Interment will follow the service at Elmwood Cemetery. After the interment, a light lunch will be served at the church.
