Robert Spanbauer, 82

Robert Spanbauer, of Antigo, passed away Wednesday, February 22, 2017 at Aspirus Langlade Hospital. He was 82 years old. He was born on June 2, 1934 in Oshkosh, a son of Joseph and Theodora (Boettcher) Spanbauer. He married Ardis Gebert on November 19, 1955 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Medford. She survives.

He attended Holy Rosary Catholic grade school in Medford and was a graduate of Medford High School with the class of 1952.

He moved to Antigo in February 1959 to manage the Easy Way Supervalu. He later owned and operated the Gold Coast Supper Club. For 21 years Bob worked at Hunters Super Market and at the Arcade Bar and Bowling Alley. He worked for Antigo Beverage for about 15 years retiring in 2000.

Bob loved playing cards, was an avid gardener and enjoyed hunting, fishing and riding his bike.

He was a member of St. John Catholic Church and the Catholic Order of Foresters.

Survivors including his wife are two daughters, Barbara (Fred) Flynn, Sun Prairie, Ann (Karl) Kegler, Antigo; four sons, Richard (Laurie) Spanbauer, Medford, Michael (Cathy) Spanbauer, Green Bay, Joseph Spanbauer, Kenosha, Scott (Penny) Spanbauer, Lowell, Michigan; fifteen grandchildren, Jessica Kowalke, Sara (Corey) Quinn, Maria and Leanna Kiselicka, Ashley (C.J.) Saager, Caitlin (Adam) Thyssen, Shannon Kegler and fiancee Justin Young, Jenna Kegler, Joey Spanbauer, Megan (Dustin) Foth, Brett, Sydney and Alyssa Spanbauer, James and Kayla Berg; 10 great grandchildren; three sisters, Marion Ball, Neillsville, Joanne (Lawrence) Bartnik, Colby, Jeanette (Dennis) Seidel, Colby; a brother, Ronald (Geri) Spanbauer, Stetsonville.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by two sons, Robert Jr., and James Spanbauer, a grandson, Michael Kiselicka, two brothers, James and David Spanbauer; his Godchild and nephew, Ryan Spanbauer.

The funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday February 27, 2017 at 11 a.m. at St. John Catholic Church with Rev. Charles Hoffmann officiating. Burial will take place in Queen of Peace Cemetery.

Visitation will be 2 to 5 p.m. on Sunday at the Bradley Funeral Home and 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. on Monday also at the funeral home. A parish wake service will be held at 4 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
