Ronald Allen Verkuilen, 74

Ronald A. Verkuilen, 74, Wittenberg, died Tuesday, November 22, 2016 at his home, under the care of Unity Limited Partnership Hospice Services.

He was born on April 22, 1942 in Split Rock, the son of the late Melvin and Helen (Spitzer) Verkuilen.

Ronald worked for about five years for Michael's Pipeline and the worked as a backhoe operator for August Winter's Construction for over 50 years. He was a member of the Operating Engineers Local Union 139. Ronald loved the outdoors and working on his large machinery and spending time with his family.

Survivors include one sister, Darlene (Terrance) Fields, Oshkosh; one brother, Michael (Mary) Verkuilen, Wittenberg; two sisters-in-law, Evelyn Verkuilen and Dolores Verkuilen and many nieces, nephews and friends. He is also survived by his special friend, Patty Jo Thome and his little fishing buddy, David.

In addition to his parents, Ronald was preceded in death by three brothers, Darrelle Verkuilen, Gene Verkuilen and Melvin Verkuilen; one sister-in-law, Lana Verkuilen and one niece, Diane Verkuilen.

The Funeral Service will be held at 11am on Saturday, November 26, 2016 at Schmidt & Schulta Funeral Home, Wittenberg. Rev. Clifford Kessen will officiate. Interment will be in Forest Home Cemetery, Wittenberg. Visitation will be on Friday from 4pm until 7pm and on Saturday from 10am until the time of services at the funeral home.
