Rose Marie Novak, of Deerbrook, died Sunday, December 6, 2015 at Care Partners. She was 79 years old. She was born on January 10, 1936 in Chicago, Illinois a daughter of the late Michael and Rose (Marcec) Rohacek. She married John Novak on August 11, 1962 at St. Matthew Lutheran Church, Deerbrook. He preceded her in death on April 12, 2011.
She was a graduate of Antigo High School.
Mrs. Novak taught for a number of years after graduating from Langlade County Teachers College and the University of Wisconsin Stevens Point with a bachelor's of science degree and a lifetime upper elementary teaching certificate. She and her husband managed the family dairy farm.
She was an active supporter of 4-H, served as an elected county awards committee member and was an instructor for confirmation class and choir. She co-authored and edited the book Our First One Hundred Years, a history of the town of Peck.
She was an avid reader. She enjoyed watching the birds in her vegetable and flower gardens.
Survivors include two sons, Jack Novak of Deerbrook, Edward (Nataliya) Novak of Denmark; grandchild, John Novak of Denmark; sister, Joan (Wayne) Schneider of Schofield; two sisters-in-law, Rosemary Wegter, Bessie (Earl) Steger, both of Antigo; two brothers-in-law, Anton (Lillian) Novak of Deerbrook, Joseph (Eva) Novak of Clintonville.
In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Novak was preceded in death by her brothers-in-law, Milo Novak, Folkert Wegter, and sister-in-law, Laurel Novak.
A funeral service will be held on Wednesday at 1 p.m. at Bradley Funeral Home with Rev. Omer Kelley officiating. Visitation will be Wednesday from 11 a.m. - 1 p.m. at the funeral home.
