CoVantage has received several notifications of their members receiving scam calls this week from someone posing as a representative of their “fraud team.” The scam involves identity thieves calling members and stating that fraud has occurred on their CoVantage account. Many times they already have a name, address, email, or full card number and will use this information in an attempt to convince members to provide additional information such as PIN numbers and CVV code located on the back of your card.
The identity thieves have also claimed as way to verify that they are calling from CoVantage, they will email you a security code, ask you to watch for the email while on the phone, and then provide the code once the email is received. This code should not be shared and should only be used if you personally have added your CoVantage debit card to your mobile wallet on your smart phone.
REMEMBER: CoVantage does have a fraud monitoring system, however they will never request your PIN or other card information from you. If you have received one of these suspicious calls and have given out your information, please call their Card Services team at 715-627-4336 ext 1806, so that they can take appropriate action.
