Sharon R. Matz, 73, Eland, died on Saturday, July 23, 2016 at Aspirus Wausau Hospital, surrounded by her family.
She was born on May 24, 1943 in Shawano, the daughter of the late Jesse and Adeline (Bublitz) Low. On February 26, 1963, Sharon was united in marriage to Chet Matz in Wittenberg. He survives.
Sharon was a cashier and casino host for North Star Casino, Bowler. She was a former Village of Eland clerk, member of Redeemer Lutheran Church, Attitude of Gratitude charity group, the Red Hatters and Diamond Setters. Sharon enjoyed her last year at Rennes, Weston and was a social butterfly and "greeter," making many new friends with residents and staff alike. Sharon & Chet enjoyed traveling and playing cards. Sharon loved spending time with her family and absolutely adored her grandchildren.
Survivors include her husband, Chet; two children, Keith (Bev) Matz, Rockland, WI and Heidi (Carl) Evans, Indianapolis, IN; six grandchildren, Eric, Amber, Elizabeth, Alex, Patrick and Peyton; siblings, Kenneth Low, Curt (Evelyn) Low all of Birnamwood, Kevin (Denise) Low, Eland, Carolyn (Doc) Pfefferle, Birnamwood, Gail (Gary) Spranger, Genoa, IL and Julie (Jerry) Trebus, Weston; sister-in-law, Helen Low, Rochester, MN; Chet and Sharons friend and caregiver, Stacie Tyler, Eland and many wonderful friends and family. Sharon was preceded in death by her parents; granddaughter, Heavyn; brothers, Donald and Robert; sister, Elizabeth and sister-in-law, Nancy Low.
The funeral service will be held at 11AM on Thursday, July 28, 2016 at Redeemer Lutheran Church, Wittenberg. Rev. Adam Roberts and Rev. Les Munnik will officiate. Visitation will be on Wednesday from 4PM to 8PM at Schmidt & Schulta Funeral Home, Wittenberg and again on Thursday from 9AM until the time of service at the church.
