Shirley Jones, 83

Shirley Jones, of Antigo, died Monday, March 4, 2019, under the care of her family and LeRoyer Hospice at Rosalia Gardens. She was 83 years old. She was born on January 22, 1936, in Chicago, Illinois a daughter of Emmett and Anne (Connelly) Hartgenbush. She married Robert "Bob" Jones on December 23, 1953, in Chicago. He survives.

She moved to Antigo as a child and graduated from Antigo High School with the class of 1953.

While her husband was in military service she moved to Chicago where she worked as a secretary for Bell Telephone Company until 1958.

She returned to Antigo where worked as a secretary for the Antigo Potato Association and assisted her husband in operating Bob's TV. She was also a secretary for Lockwood Graders which became Potatogation, and was employed in the clothing department at Mills Fleet Farm in Antigo.

She was a member of SS Mary and Hyacinth Catholic Church, volunteered many hours at St. Hyacinth school and church and at Crestwood school. She was a member of the Jaycettes and also volunteered at Eastview Nursing Home.

She enjoyed reading, cross country skiing and spending time with her grandchildren.

Survivors including her husband are a daughter, Linda Austin, Tomah; son, Paul (Kori) Jones, Antigo; three grandchildren, Josh and Cooper Jones, Kaitlyn Austin; two sisters, Kathy (Tony) Dyl, Omaha, Nebraska and Barb (Dane) Wood, Hoffman Estates, Illinois.

She was preceded in death by her parents; step-mother, Caryl Hartgenbush; a brother, Jack (Helen) Hartgenbush, and two grandchildren in infancy, Dakota and Jackie.

The funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, March 9, 2019, at 10:30 a.m. at SS Mary & Hyacinth Catholic Church with Rev. Mathew Simonar officiating.

Visitation will be from 3:30 to 6:30 p.m. on Friday at the Bradley Funeral Home and 9 to 10 a.m. on Saturday at the funeral home. A parish wake service will be held at 4 p.m. Friday also at the funeral home.
