The Oscar G. Johnson VA Medical Center will be hosting a Veteran Town Hall and Listening Session in Antigo, Wisconsin, at 5 p.m. on Tuesday, November 8, 2016. The town hall will be held at the VFW Hall located at 1216 Elm Street in Antigo and is open to all Veterans, their families and friends, and the public.
Leaders from the VA medical center and the Langlade County Veteran Service Officer will be on hand to provide a presentation on VA benefits and services, discuss the new Veterans Choice Program and recent changes, and listen to Veterans’ comments and concerns.
There will also be a presentation of Vietnam War 50th Commemoration Pins to Vietnam Era Veterans who served from November 1, 1955 to May 15, 1975.
“We have done a number of these Veteran Town Halls and found them to be very beneficial in our understanding of Veterans’ concerns and helping them to resolve any issues they may have,” said Jim Rice, Medical Center Director.
The VA will also be conducting Veteran Town Halls at Eagle River VFW Post 8637 (1 p.m. November 8), Tomahawk VFW Post 2687 (10 a.m. November 9), Rhinelander Veterans Center (5 p.m. November 9), Ironwood American Legion Post (10 a.m. November 10), and Lac Vieux Desert Health Center in Watersmeet (2 p.m. November 10).
In the last four years the VA medical center has conducted twenty-seven Veteran Town Halls throughout the Upper Peninsula and northern Wisconsin.
