Vera D. (Gierke) Sagle, passed away January 31, 2018 at Aspirus Langlade Hospital from complications due to pneumonia.
Vera was born September 29, 1944 in Kiel, Wisconsin to Walter and Ida Gierke. She grew up on the farm with her siblings, worked several factory jobs in eastern Wisconsin before her and Don moved to Wausau and eventually to Antigo. Vera spent her later adult years battling Multiple Sclerosis, but it did not defeat her. Because of her love and faith in Jesus Christ, she will experience new and abundant life for eternity. Vera’s loves include her family, her garden, flowers, birds, fishing, and cheering for her Green Bay Packers.
She is survived by her husband Donald Sagle, son Scott (Monica) Sagle, daughter Sara (Jim) Adamski, grandchildren, Emma and Micah Sagle and Jacob Adamski, siblings Stanley and Verna McCabe, Ruby Pitsch, Marcy McCabe, Walt and Dianne Gierke, Joyce and George Swisher, Jerry Sagle, Bob Sagle, Sandy and Dave DeZwarte, Ida and Arden Wieck, and many other family and friends. She was preceded in death by her siblings Don McCabe, Phil and Rosemary McCabe, Ruth Butler and a brother-in-law, Ralph Pitsch.
A funeral service will take place Monday at 11:00 am at Calvary Lutheran Church with Reverend Karen Tews officiating. Visitation will be at the church from 9:30 am to the time of the service. Interment will take place at Elmwood Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be directed to the Multiple Sclerosis Society or Calvary Lutheran Church.
