WALK-OFF MAGIC & 10-RUN EXPLOSIONS: Antigo Stallions 12U & 10U Bring the Fireworks to Minocqua Tournament

Posted

If you missed the Antigo Stallions travel baseball teams in action this past weekend at the Lakeland Summer Kickoff Tournament in Minocqua, you missed some of the most thrilling youth baseball of the year.

From Friday through Sunday, both our 12U and 10U squads traded blows with top-tier regional talent. While the final box scores showed plenty of hard battles, the real story was the unshakeable grit of these young athletes.

12U: The Cameron Williams Show Ends in Walk-Off Pandemonium

The 12U Stallions went to war in three games defined by massive offensive production. After a tight 9-8 Friday loss to Wausau (highlighted by a perfect 3-for-3 day from Preston Wickersheim and an early Cameron Williams homer) and a tough Saturday speed bump against Grafton, Sunday brought the theater.

Facing the Greenville Griffins, the Stallions found themselves tied 8-8 in the bottom of the fourth. Step up, Cameron Williams. Having already homered earlier in the game, Williams crushed a ball deep into the outfield and turned on the afterburners. In a breathless race around the diamond, he slid home safely for a three-run, inside-the-park, walk-off home run to secure an 11-8 victory! Nolan Schofield also turned in a stellar 3-for-3 performance at the plate to set up the game-winning heroics.

10U: A 10-Run Inning Shockwave

The 10U Stallions brought plenty of their own thunder to Minocqua, combining for 21 hits over the weekend.

Though they dropped a close 5-4 opener to Plover (featuring a solo shot by Reggie Zupon and 6 strikeouts from Eddie Brandt), they made up for it on Saturday afternoon against the Green Bay Sluggers Gold. Trailing late, the 10U offense completely exploded for a massive 10-run 5th inning to win 11-5! Levi Fassbender delivered the crushing blow with a 3-run single, while Brandt and Zupon mowed down batters on the mound.

On Sunday, despite outhitting the Wisconsin Wolfpack, the 10U fell 8-4, though Maverick Diven gave fans a highlight-reel moment with a blistering inside-the-park home run of his own.

The Takeaway: Win or lose, the Stallions showed that they do not quit. With dynamic offenses and deep pitching rotations, this is going to be an incredibly fun summer of baseball in Antigo.
