Walter "Wally" Wick, of Antigo, died Saturday, December 15, 2018, at Aspirus Langlade Hospital surrounded by his loved ones. He was 92 years old. He was born on October 23, 1926, in Antigo, a son of the late Arvid and Dorothy (Loomis) Wick. He married Bernice Hubatch on July 19, 1947, in Antigo.
Wally was a graduate of Antigo High School.
Mr. Wick was a World War II veteran having proudly served in the United States Marine Corps from April 21, 1944 to May 17, 1946.
He owned Antigo Block Company for many years.
Mr. Wick was a long time member of the Sparks-Doernenburg American Legion Post 3. He was a Past Commander and served on the Executive Committee. He was a Chef de Gare Passe and served as a Cheminot in Langlade County Voiture 1204, 40 et 8. He was a Voyageur Militaire for 64 years and awarded an Honorary Life Membership in Voiture 1204 in 2015. Wally was a life member of the Timberwolves Detachment of the Marine Corps League. He was also a longtime member of the Antigo Lions Club and a member of Peace Lutheran Church.
He loved hunting, fishing, camping, bowling and playing cards with family. He enjoyed watching all sports. His greatest joy was spending time with his family.
He is survived by his wife of 71 years, Bernice; two daughters, Shirley Ann Tatro of Antigo and Laurie (Bill) Scheurer of Three Lakes; a son, Calvin (Mary) Wick of Antigo; ten grandchildren, Troy (Mallarie) Tatro of Antigo, Tracy (Becky) Tatro of Antigo, Steve Scheurer of Birnamwood, Stacy Scheurer of Appleton, Ben Scheurer of Appleton, Cristy Wick of Antigo, Dan (Erin) Wick of Antigo, Scott (Bridget) Wick of Virginia, Chad (Wendy) Bintz of West Bend and Craig (Amy) Bintz of West Bend; 20 great-grandchildren; and 9 great, great-grandchildren; two sisters-in-law, Andree Wick of Antigo and Marilyn Joerns of Elcho.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Larry Bintz; a son-in-law, Jerry Bula; a brother, Richard Wick; mother and father-in-law, Ida and John Hubatch and several brothers and sisters-in-law.
A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, December 19, 2018, at 11 a.m. at Bradley Funeral Home with Rev. David Karolus officiating. Burial will take place in the Elmwood Cemetery, Antigo. Visitation will be Tuesday, December 18 from 3 to 7 p.m. and Wednesday from 10 to 11 a.m. at the funeral home.
Antigo veterans will conduct military honors following the service at the funeral home.
