Paul Burkart, 87
Paul Burkhart, of Antigo, died Sunday, December 14, 2014 at home under the care of his family. He was 87 years old. He was born on November 30, 1927 in Kent, a son of Rueben and Mary (Weber) Burkhart. He married Helen Schroeder on October 4, 1952 at St. John Catholic Church in Antigo. She survives.
He served in the United States Army for several years having been stationed in Korea.
Following military service he moved to the Milwaukee area where he worked for Falk Corporation in maintenance for 18 years. The family returned to Antigo in June of 1969. As the owner-operator of Burkhart Trucking he drove truck for several businesses including Rusch Brothers, Antigo Block and Wagner Oil. He also worked as a mechanic in the shop at Rusch Brothers. After retirement he drove truck seasonally for Schroeder Brothers Farms.
He is a member SS Mary and Hyacinth Catholic Church and the Leland-Tollefson Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #2653 in Antigo.
He enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping and bowling.
Survivors including his wife are two daughters, Cheryl (Gary L.) Domke, Antigo, Deborah Wisniewski and friend Jeff Rickert of Antigo; two sons, Vincent A. Burkhart of Sobieski, Russell (Deborah) Burkhart, Gleason; 15 Grandchildren, 22 Great Grandchildren;
four sisters, Alice (Warren) Fuller, Lily, Ruth (Orlyn) Carlson, Florida, Mary (Raymond) Gibbs, Gresham, Millie Rudella and friend Jim, Milwaukee; four brothers, Edwin (Joyce) Burkhart, Summit Lake, Lee (Charlotte) Burkhart, Three Lakes, Ralph (Carol) Burkhart, Sullivan, Floyd Burkhart, Bryant; three sisters-in-law, Marvel Burkhart, Pickerel, Janice (Norbert) Schroepfer, Bryant, Elenora Burkhart, Bryant.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Vivian, a grandson, Paul Jason Burkhart, a daughter-in-law, Debra Burkhart; a sister, Leona (Lawrence) Parsons; three brothers, Otto, Wayne and Donald Burkhart; a sister-in-law, Doris Burkhart.
