Five-day closure at Dempster Creek to begin Monday

For the Antigo Times

Work to improve WIS 55 between the south Langlade County line and WIS 64 is currently scheduled to begin July 11.

Northeast asphalt, Inc. is the prime contractor for the $1.15 million project. Crews will resurface the roadway, replace three deteriorating culverts, and install centerline rumble strips.

Crews plan to close WIS 55 on July 11 at 6 a.m. to replace the culvert at Dempster Creek. During the closure, motorists will be detoured via WIS 64, US 45, and WIS 47. The road is scheduled to reopen on Friday, July 15 before 6 p.m.

Motorists can also expect to encounter single lane closures and flagging operations during construction.

All work is scheduled for completion in in early September 2016. Construction-related traffic impacts are subject to change and are dependent on favorable weather conditions and construction status.

Eighty percent of the project will be paid with state transportation funds; the remaining 20 percent will be paid with federal transportation funds.
