Cloma N. Schmidt, 94
Cloma N. Schmidt, of Antigo, died Wednesday, January 23, 2019, at the Homme Home in Wittenberg. She was 94 years old. She was born on May 1, 1924, in Big Stone, Kentucky, a daughter of the late James and Eva (Pennington) Fraley. She married Robert Schmidt on July 6, 1946, in Milwaukee. He preceded her in death on June 27, 1978.
Cloma graduated from Crandon High School in 1942 and then attended Langlade County Normal School for two years.
She moved to Milwaukee and was employed at Schlitz Brewery. Following her marriage, she dairy farmed in the town of Norwood with her husband. In 1986 she moved to Antigo.
She was a member of St. Joseph Holy Family Catholic Church in Phlox.
She enjoyed reading, country music, cooking and baking for her family, and embroidery. Her greatest joy was spending time with her grandchildren.
Survivors include three daughters, Sandy (Lee) Corrigan of Baraboo, Joan (Patrick) Shidell of Ringle and Peggy Schmidt of Antigo; two sons, Dennis (Jeanne) Schmidt and George (Linda) Schmidt both of Antigo; 10 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; three great, great-grandchildren; and a brother-in-law, Chester Gryczkowski.
In addition to her husband she was preceded in death by four sisters, Ivory Kernohan, Avis Beaudry, Elva Kernohan and Lavade Gryczkowski; and three brothers, Kenneth, Kermit and Azel.
A funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, January 26, 2019, at 11 a.m. at St. Joseph Holy Family Catholic Church in Phlox with Rev. Charles Hoffmann officiating. Burial will take place in St. Joseph Cemetery.
Visitation will be Friday, January 25 from 4 p.m. until the 6:30 p.m. Parish Wake service at the Bradley Funeral Home and on Saturday from 10 to 11 a.m. at the church.
