JoAnn Swomia, 79
JoAnn Swomia, of Post Lake, died Saturday, June 22, 2019, at Rosalia Gardens under the care of LeRoyer Hospice. She was 79 years old. She was born on June 20, 1940, in Milwaukee, a daughter of Henry and Angie Wutdke. She married Larry Swomia on September 19, 1964, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Milwaukee. He survives.
She was a graduate of Messmer High School in Milwaukee, class of 1957.
After high school she worked at Wisconsin Electric Company in Milwaukee for seven years.
JoAnn raised her family in Racine and moved to Post Lake in 1998.
She was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church in Elcho and its Ladies League.
She enjoyed crocheting, playing cards, mahjong, golfing, snowmobiling, bowling, and staying active with long walks and workouts. She was a member of the Post Lake Improvement Association.
Survivors including her husband are a daughter, Kim (Jeff) Swanson, Ixonia; three sons, Kurt Swomia, Racine, Kevin Swomia, Racine, Brian (Mandy) Swomia, Sun Prairie; four grandchildren Matthew, Ryan, Haley, and Sydney; two brothers, Bill (Debbie) Wudtke, Oregon, Mark Wudtke, Milwaukee; a sister, Mary Kay Spoerl, Brookfield.
She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, Henry Wudtke; a brother-in-law, Al Spoerl.
A memorial service will be held on Thursday, June 27, 2019, at 11 a.m. at Holy Family Catholic Church, Elcho with Rev. Dave Zimmerman officiating.
Visitation will be 9:30 a.m. until the time of services Thursday at the church.
The family offers thanks to Dr. Lakshmi Deep and the staff at Rosalia Gardens and LeRoyer Hospice for the compassion and care given to JoAnn.
