Mary Ann Svaton, 92
Mary Ann Svaton, of Antigo, died Wednesday, June 26, 2019, at her home. She was 92 years old. She was born on March 22, 1927, in La Crosse, a daughter of the late Harold and Tressa Ann (Bates) Hart. She married James Svaton on April 15, 1961, in Antigo. He preceded her in death on June 11, 2009.
Mary Ann worked for the Civilian Conservation Corps in Sweden. She was also employed as a secretary for the United States Navy.
She received her Bachelor’s degree from the University of Wisconsin Madison in Home Economics.
Mary Ann moved to Antigo and was employed at the University of Wisconsin Agriculture Extension Office of Langlade County.
She owned the Yarn Shop in Antigo from 1973 to 1986.
Survivors include a daughter, Tressa Svaton of Antigo; a son, James Svaton of Darlington, South Carolina; a grandson, Brendan Svaton of Darlington, South Carolina; and a great-granddaughter, Ava Svaton.
In addition to her husband and parents she was preceded in death by a sister, Genevieve and brother, Harry Jr.
