Donna Lu Turner, 88, passed away August 1, 2019 at the Homme Home of Wittenberg, WI. She was born November 18, 1930 in Rockford, IL, daughter of Jasper & Alice (Friday) Boken.

After graduating from West High School, she worked at First National Bank, Rockford, IL.

She married Charles (Pete) E. Hess in 1954. They moved to a farm in the Antigo, Wisconsin area. She helped on the farm and worked nights as a nurses aid at the Superior Nursing Home for 6 years and then Copp’s lady’s department for 6 years. She then moved back to Rockford, IL and worked at Plastics, Inc. for 5 years and at Ingersoll Milling Machine Co. for 2.5 years before retiring.  She was divorced in February 1994. Charles preceded her in death in August 2010. She married Eugene S. Turner on August 27, 1994. He preceded her in death on May 9, 2016.

She loved to travel and loved dancing.

Survivors include daughters Louis (Bob) Marx and Luann Hess; step-daughter Tamara (Brad) Erickson; grandchildren Michael Marx, Noella (Steve) Bierman, Terri (Jesses) Fonder, Jared Marx; step-grandchildren James (Sarah) Erickson, Robert (Rachael) Erickson; great-grandchildren Lonnie, Devon and Mariah Bierman and Artemis Fonder; step-great grandchildren Maxwell and Amelia Erickson; sisters Marda (Denzil) Enyart, Linda (Irvin) Woodruff; nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was preceded in death by sisters Wanda (Joseph) Becker and Claudine (Howard) Sawallisch.

She will be laid to rest at Willwood Burial Park, Rockford, IL.
