James Edward Wild, 89
James Edward Wild, of Antigo, died Monday, May 6, 2019, at his home under the care of his family and LeRoyer Hospice. He was 89 years old. He was born on April 15, 1930, in the Town of Rolling, a son of the late Joseph and Mary (Steber) Wild. He married Mary Ann Mach on May 19, 1954, at St. Mary Catholic Church.
Jim earned the rank of Corporal having served in the United States Army from June 19, 1951 to March 19, 1953. During the Korean War, he served on Heartbreak Ridge with the 27th Infantry Regiment, 25th Infantry Division. He was awarded the Korean service medal with one bronze star, United Nations Service Medal and Combat Infantry Badge.
Jim was employed at General Telephone for 36 years as an installer, repairman, and lineman, having retired in 1991.
He was a member of SS Mary & Hyacinth Catholic Church.
Jim enjoyed the outdoors and spending time with grandchildren.
Survivors include a daughter, Sandy (Scott) Wild-Dahlke of Antigo; four sons, Gary (Mary) Wild of West Bend, Richard (Tracy) Wild of Antigo, David (Kristi) Wild of Gurley, AL, and Mark (Tami) Wild of Aniwa; seven grandchildren, Jennifer (Tony) Nigbor, Alaina (Justin) Below, Rachelle, Hannah, Cody (Kristin), Travis (Kelsey) and Sarah Wild; great-grandchildren, Mason, Brayden, Makayla, Grayson, Maverick and Marshall; two brothers, Leonard (Mary) Wild and Raymond (Betty) Wild; and two sisters-in-law, Dorothy Wild and Dawn Wild all of Antigo.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by two sisters, Lorraine Turney and Mary Preboski; four brothers, Clarence, Joseph (Delores), Lawrence and Floyd; three brothers-in-law, Anthony Zenisek, Robert Preboski and John Turney.
A funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, May 11, 2019, at 11 a.m. at SS Mary & Hyacinth Catholic Church with Rev. Charles Hoffmann officiating. Burial will take place in the Queen of Peace Cemetery with Antigo veterans providing military honors. Visitation will be held at the Bradley Funeral Home on Friday, May 10 from 4 to 7 p.m. and Saturday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. A parish wake service will be held on Friday at 6 p.m
