2026 Antigo Tater Trot Announces Largest Donation in Event History to Local Athletic and Youth Organizations

Posted

Thanks to the generous support of participants, sponsors, and volunteers, the 2026 Antigo Tater Trot raised a record-breaking $10,000 for local athletic and youth organizations. The in-person race was held Saturday, Aug. 8, with a virtual option allowing participants to complete their race on their own time between August 2 and August 8. Following the event, event directors presented checks totaling $10,000 to nine area organizations that support youth development, active lifestyles, and student-athletes.

More than 300 participants completed the 2K, 6K, or 10K race in person or virtually, demonstrating the community's continued commitment to supporting local youth programs and organizations. The 6K and 10K routes wind through the area's local potato fields, giving participants a scenic, true-to-Antigo running experience. Top finishers in each age category of the 10K race earned the event's iconic ceramic potato trophy, a highly sought-after prize among regular Tater Trot competitors.

Race Director Kaitlin Schlundt said the record-breaking donation reflects the generosity of the many individuals and businesses that continue to support the event year after year. "Every registration, sponsorship, and volunteer hour helps make a meaningful difference for organizations that provide opportunities for students and families throughout our area," Schlundt said.

Race Director Brittany Hose said the event is a wonderful example of what a community can accomplish when it comes together to support area youth. "We are incredibly grateful to everyone who helps make the Tater Trot possible," Hose said. "Their support allows us to continue investing in programs that encourage healthy lifestyles, build skills, and create opportunities for local students."

Since its inception in 1980, the Antigo Tater Trot has donated nearly $130,000 to local schools, athletic programs, and organizations that promote healthy lifestyles and support student success. The annual event brings together local schools, teams, businesses, and community members while helping sustain programs that benefit area youth throughout the Antigo area.

This year's recipients were the AHS Track Team, AHS Cross Country Team, Elementary Track & Field Day, Peace Lutheran School Athletics, All Saints Catholic School Athletics, Antigo Middle School Athletics, Jack Lake Silent Trails Association, AHS Art Club, and Antigo FFA.
